Learn how to
- Introduction pattern making terminology, equipment and methods
- Working from a set of measurements- you will draft a skirt block
- Construct the Block in calico and fit to body
- Transfer adjustments to block and trace onto card for your own personal block
- Add flare
- Turn darts into seams
- Create style lines-panel skirt, A line skirt, Pencil skirt with vent, Circle and half circle skirt
- Pleats, gathers, Frills and Flounces
- Pockets and yoke
- Drafting a waist facing and waist bands
- Make your owm design to include seam allowances , annotations and all pattern markings
Stage 2
Dress/Tops Pattern cutting skills
Learn how to
- Working from a set of measurements- either your own or a standard size
- you will draft a bodice block and a sleeve
block - Construct the block in calico and fit to body. Transfer
adjustments to the block and trace onto card - Darts and dart manipulation- Moving darts and removing
darts - Turning darts into seams,Wing seam, Princess line seam, Empire line seam.
- Yokes, Adding fullness, gathers etc.
- Necklines
- Armholes
- Facings
- Pattern Draft – Draft a full scale pattern for a Top of your own design to include seam allowances, annotations and all pattern markings

Professional shirt pattern cutting
Using either the Bodice block you created on the Stage 2 course or a Bodice block that we can provide, you will draft a Shirt Block from a set of instructions.

- Drafting a 1 piece and a 2-piece collar
- Drafting a cuff and a placket opening
- Pattern Draft – Draft a simple shirt pattern to Include a button wrap, yoke, a collar and a cuff. Include seam allowances, all pattern markings and annotations

Professional Pattern cutting for Trousers
Learn how to
- Construct the block in calico and fit to body
- Transfer adjustments to the block and trace onto card to create your own personal block
- Pattern manipulations to create a variety of trouser styles
- Yokes
- Pockets
- Drafting a fly zip fastener
- Pattern Draft – Draft a pattern for a pair of Trousers to include a fly faster, a yoke, waistband, pockets. Include seam allowances, all pattern markings and instruction
Advanced Level pattern cutting

Pattern cutting for Tailored Jackets
Using either the Bodice block you created on the Stage 2 course or a Bodice block that we can provide, you will draft a standard size Jacket Block and Sleeve from a set of instructions

Thus is an advanced course so you should have attended our Stage 1, Pattern cutting for Shirts, Pattern Cutting for Tops and Pattern Cutting for Shirts courses or have similar previous experience.

Learn how to
